I learned magin playing an old computer game I found called Shandalar at a resale shop, and think its frickin' awesome. I would love to play more, however, I would prefer playing on a computer somehow as finding opponents and buying cards in the real world is difficult.

Are there any more recent versions of Shandalar (Mine was pre-2000 played on windows 95. yeah...XD )? I'm also curious if any online magic magic games exist to play against computerized or real opponents. A Magic "World Of Warcraft" style game would be awesome!!!

Welcome to the game and Draw3Cards :)

See this related question for how to play Magic over the web. There are several other Magic computer games, the most recent being Duels Of The Planeswalkers. However, I would really recommend finding other people to play with, because the 'real life' version of Magic is very different from all computer-based games.

Odds are you can locate other players living near you rather easily.

I completely agree that playing in person is better, but I can't really afford cards and live in a somewhat remote area. – CrazyJugglerDrummer Jul 24 at 16:26

The Slightlymagic Forum is a great ressource, not only for shandalar but also for many other magic-computer games ;) there you can find a furhter developed version of Shandalar with patches for newer sets under the name "Mana Link"

I think the closest thing to a magic mmo would be magic online. you can download this off their main site. the cards and boosters do cost money but the drafts and tournements are cheap and the prizes are usually 50% higher than regular magic games. a draft costs 14$ and depending on which draft you choose you could get 4 boosters for winning twice and 8 for winning the draft, or 1 for winning once and 2 for winning twice and 4 for winning the draft. these events are loser-out though. playing constructed is similar. there are also daily big tournements and occasianal speacial events such as new set releases and championships. I highly reccomned it.
