The Extended PTQ is coming soon, and I realy want to play a combo deck. I thought about playing Tooth & Nail combo (which i allready played at the past) with a few changes..

[[Tooth and Nail]] [[Painter's Servant]] [[Iona, Shield of Emeria]]

I heard about the Dark Depth's combo, and the Hive mind Combo (which is really cheap to build) but I haven't really tested them up yet...

So, what is your Extended combo deck choice?

Yeah, T&N comes to mind immediately when you see Iona. With Painter's Servant it's a done deal ... although any Cunning Sparkmage will kill Painter's Servant. – ripper234 Feb 2 at 15:31
How come?? Cunning Sparkmage deals only 1 point of damage, and the servant has 3 toughness.. – Ozzy Feb 2 at 17:38
Oh, I misread the toughness of Painter's Servant. At 3 it's much more durable. – ripper234 Feb 2 at 17:44

I've got a decent Elf Combo deck going. Mostly it's based around a few cards.

It's been updated with some of the new cards in WWK.

First off make lots of tokens.

[[Imperious Perfect]] [[Lys Alana Huntmaster]]

You'll need mana, and a bit of life gain, they're also small so you can cast them early.

[[Llanowar Elves]] [[Elvish Eulogist]]

A new Worldwake card that is really good here. And you'll want lots of manny for it.

[[Joraga Warcaller]] [[Elvish Archdruid]]

You can get the idea from this. If you want to splash Black there's some nice elves in the Lorwyn block that you can use. Such as...

[[Moonglove Winnower]] [[Eyeblight's Ending]]

I usually play Extended so I get some nice ideas going.

How do you deal with board sweepers? – ripper234 Feb 21 at 6:22
Mainly I just keep a Huntmaster and a few low cost creatures in my hand to rebuild from. They'll be in the same boat too. – DarkMantle Feb 21 at 16:04
Dont u think Combo elves is better than this? how your deck suppose dealing with wrath of god/day of judgment/damnation/marsh casualties/every other mass-removalspell?? – Ozzy Feb 22 at 3:20
There's enough small creatures in an elf deck to rebuild faster than the opponent usually can if they wipe the board with those spells it kills their creatures too. And you don't need many creatures with an overrun. You could use Nissa to accelerate it as well. – DarkMantle Feb 22 at 4:32

The best deck in extended is darkfoundry darkdepths and thopter foundy combo. The deck is insane, I went to a PTQ like 2 monthes ago and went 8-1 with it with one loss to tribal zoo because he got 3 tribal flames, and 15 to the head is kinda a problem.

But yeah darkfoundry is just insane.

The ones I would point out include the aforementioned Dark Depths, Combo Elves (focusing on elfelfelfelfelfelfelfGRAPESHOT), Thopterator (also known as Tezzerator), Scapeshift (Valakut win condition of course), and repeatable Martyr of the Sands. Hypergenesis is there too, but it gets boring fast (either you hit a cascade or you don't...)

My personal favorite combo deck is a Valakut/Scapeshift variation that forces your opponent to gain life in order to grow creatures and repeat direct damage:

4X:

  • [[[Bloodbraid Elf]]]
  • [[[Kitchen Finks]]]
  • [[[Sakura-Tribe Elder]]]
  • [[[Wood Elves]]]
  • [[[Kavu Predator]]]
  • [[[Ball Lightning]]]
  • [[[Punishing Fire]]]
  • [[[Harmonize]]]
  • [[[Scapeshift]]]
  • [[[Grove of the Burnwillows]]]
  • [[[Stomping Ground]]]

2X:

  • [[[Oran-Rief the Vastwood]]]
  • [[[Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]]]

5X [[[Forest]]]

7X [[[Mountain]]]

Sideboard (3X):

  • [[[Great Sable Stag]]]
  • [[[Ancient Grudge]]]
  • [[[Search for Tomorrow]]]
  • [[[Dragon's Claw]]]
  • [[[Tormod's Crypt]]]

Unfortunately, this deck has nothing to stop a Dark Depths combo aside from mana acceleration and direct damage with a scapeshift (Kitchen Finks can give an extra turn to do this). On the other hand, the sideboard provides anti-blue and anti-black, and reduces the viability of tarmogoyf. As an added advantage, this deck has sanctions against your opponent's life gain, potentially stopping thopterator decks and martyr of the sands combo decks.

oh yeah, seems we finally need the decklist feature: draw3cards.com/questions/927/… – tobsen Mar 10 at 18:55
This should be working ... we'll look into it. – ripper234 Mar 11 at 6:49
Fixed. I hate it how I comments have a minimum length. – ripper234 Mar 12 at 8:31

This one will soon be in the spotlight I bet.

[[Izzet Guildmage]][[Manamorphose]][[Training Grounds]]

Would you like to fight my entire library? Because I'm not sure whether to play it or not.

This is one of those "gotta see the look on their face when they realize" decks...

Wizards really should have reconsidered printing a card better than [[[Power Artifact]]]

Undoubtedly, the deck will feature card fishing like [[[ponder]]] or [[[gifts ungiven]]] and red/blue double lands.

UPDATE: I've constructed a deck based on this, as you can see here.

And of course you can do this on turn one:

[[Rite of Flame]]

Your deck plays 7 pact of negation. – Ciberon May 25 at 16:21
Sorry, definitely a typo. The correct version is now updated. – Shushoto May 25 at 20:23
