[[Quest for Pure Flame]]

Have you every played it? Was it worth it? Would you pick it in a draft? How late?

It has it uses, but they are limited. If you wanted to play it you would have to make sure to pick up multiples, because they are not good late game unless you are sure it can finish off an opponent. The major problem is that it makes you have to be aggressive to get the counters and that can be hard sometimes. I'm not a fan of it though, and never have played it or had it played against me. If you feel like it will work out in your deck then pick, but I wouldn't say that I recommend it.

Hardly playable. Since it's rather complicated to activate, and only works for one turn, it's nigh-useless ... Any of Zendikar's red burn would be better, and most creatures.

You will almost never waste your burn directly at your opponent, so this will activate only if a creature hits four times. Instead of planning this combo, get another creature and hit more.

First of all, you need any creature to hit four times, which is pretty easy with red aggro (two creatures for two turns and you have the quest completed). Then when activated, it doubles all damage dealt by sources you control for the entire turn. It sounds to me like this could really deliver the final blow: e.g. burst lightning + quest for pure fire = 10dmg, add an unnblocked Ruinous Minotaur or a lightning elemental from Zektar Shrine and you got some heavy damage going on. – Avish Nov 18 at 8:02
In other words, IMO it's better all-around than Quest for the Holy Relic or the even more situational Quest for Ancient Secrets; around the same value as Quest for the Gravelord, and slightly surpassed in terms of general applicability by Quest for the Gemblades. – Avish Nov 18 at 8:05
Are you kidding me? Quest for the Gemblades is far far superior! Take 2 if you can. It only takes one hit to enable, it doesn't take other cards to be effective, you can sac it at instant speed to give the +4/+4. – ripper234 Nov 18 at 9:43

Like a lot of the quest cards it is simply too specific to be immensely useful not to mention ripping this when you're in topdeck mode or in late game in general is terribly unhelpful.
