Ok, we have been drafting Zendikar for some time now. Can we come up with some tips?

Let's keep the tips specific to Zendikar drafts (any general tips can go to a different question, if anyone wishes to open one). Also, it might be useful to keep one tip per answer, for voting.

This is slightly repeating myself, but pick many low curved 1-3 creatures with power 2 or greater, avoid 5 drops and higher drops unless they are bombs (win the game unless removed). don't pick khalni heart expedition unless your a very landfallish deck. there are good allies in every colour put drafting many colours just for the allies isn't the way to go, also try to only take aggresive allies unless you are extremely heavey on allies, the worst being the green bard.

I won a Zendikar draft simply by collecting as many Vampires as possible and supplementing them with other black cards like Giant Scorpion. The Vampires in Zendikar work incredibly well together, to the point where if you have two Blood Seekers, two Gatekeeper of Malakirs, and two Nighthawks, you can totally dominate the game. Throw in some Hideous Ends and you've got a kickass deck. Feast of Blood may be useless if you don't take many vampires, but with a deck full of them it is really, really deadly.

If you can, consider trying to draft an Allies deck. The allies in White are very excellent. Kazandu Blademaster is good on its own, and with more allies in your deck it is simply insane. Makindi Shieldmate is a late pick, but it is a good blocker against all the aggro we're seeing in Zendikar and boosts your other allies. Two Ondu Clerics equal five life all by themselves.

Combine them with blue for maximal efficiency, Umara Raptor as a 3/3 is top tier and is very playable even as a 2/2.

My lessons:

Don't underestimate Stonework Puma - it's a nice late pick, good for your allies and playable by itself in every deck.

Zektar Shrine expedition is very useful, especially if you can get your hands on Electropotence - you can hit for 14 on turn four. Even without it, Zektar is IMHO the best expedition by far -- it's always there for a nice 7 damage (+ trample!) and it can serve as potential removal by just being there, waiting to block your opponent's best creature.

There are some great 2 and 3-drops in red. Red aggro is definitely one of the more playable choices in this format, with Goblin Bushwacker (and the shortcutter), Hellfire Mongrel, and even Ruinous Minotaur (awesome cheap one-time-blocker, and when your opponent is down to 10 life you can definitely pay those two lands to finish them off).

As for the ascension, Beastmaster and Luminarch are definite bombs, whereas the others not so much.

Grab the first nighthawk you see and build around it. Worked for me and many others!

You don't get to see too many of these, it's definitely 1st pick material. – ripper234 Dec 12 at 20:28

Be careful when drafting Kor. Remember you need two things for a sucesful Kor deck, kor and equipment whenever I try to drat Kor I dont get enough creatures or equipment.

True, I hate how the Kor loves equipment, because you then need to compromise on either Kor or equipment. – ripper234 Apr 14 at 5:26

Don't pick Feast of Blood unless you know you can play it. I did the mistake of picking it in the first pack after one or two vampires, but got very few vampires afterwards. The card is only playable if you'll consistently have two vampires, which requires about eight or nine vampires in your deck.
