Currently the leader in the funniest card in Magic question, I have a rules question on cheetyface, as much as there are rules regarding the "un" sets - Is it 'legal' to conceal Cheetyface (or a few) in your shirt sleeves (not card sleeves!), and put them into play without ever drawing them?

I mean, is the cheating you're "allowed" to do here limited to putting it into play after drawing it legally, or are all 'cheating' rules ignored for this guy?

If an opponent catches you and it is removed from the game, can it cheat its way back into the game?

(I have never played in any official event with the "un" sets - this question targets these specific events. Of course every casual play group will have a different interpretation here)

Sadly (or sensibly, depending on your POV), Mark Rosewater clarified that you can sneak Cheatyface into play only if it's in your hand.

What the hell am I allowed to do with this card?

I don't want to ruin anyone's fun, but I feel obliged to point out one thing. This card has one ability. It allows players who have Cheatyface in their hand to get it into play without paying for it (assuming they don't get caught). This wasn't as clearly explained on the card as it should have been. This card does not let you do anything else other than the one ability written above.

It would seem that you can cheat it into the battlefield in any way at any un-sanctioned game.

speaking of which would this be legal?

No :P You can't interfere with cards outside of your game. Also, silverbordered cards can't be played, but ever more, they can't be included in your decks which have a format in which it is banned (i.e. Standard, Legacy, T1, etc.) – Ancarma♦ Nov 7 at 8:50

He can't Swerve the copy to that Bitterblossom 'over there', because Swerve can NOT target anything outside his game. – Ancarma♦ Nov 7 at 10:35

About Cheatyface: It says: you may sneak it into play at any time, as long as your opponent does not catch you doing it RIGHT AWAY. Which means, you want the card at your creatures, because it's a creature, but if you're on your way to there and your opponent sees you sneaking the card in it gets destroyed.

Things that I think are allowed, and which worked great for me, were doing stuff like:

Hiding it under another creature, and then, OMG, look! another creature!

Playing a card with a strange oracle text, when they read it, sneak it in play. Never got caught with that one.

Putting your hand facedown on the table, with the card the nearest to the table (Cheatyface) put face up, then removing the rest of the hand. Hey, look who's there.

And no, you can't put two cards in one sleeve, stuff like that. You can only 'cheat' at not paying it's mana cost without getting caught. When I first played the card, no-one had seen it before so I thought like, I'll just play it without paying for it, and then wait. Opponent read the card, went: "HEY!" and then said like: crap, I'm too late right?

Bingo.

Just how much cheating can you do with Cheatyface?
