this has been nagging at me.

a) we know that it takes place after time spiral because new type planswalkers are there.

b) We know it take place after shards of alara because ajani goldmane is older than ajani vengeant.

c) We know zendikar takes place after shards of alara because Sarkhan Vol has become Nicol Bolas' servant.

d) so it would seem that it takes place after Zendikar right? but chandra doesn't look any older in Lorwyn, does ajani age faster (cat years?)

e) also liliana cursed garuk and he seems to use black mana, and this happens during zandikar so the only way he could be totally green in lorwyn is if he was healed which has yet to happen.

I could just be nitpicking here but i think they sort of stumbeled on their own continuity.

Are you getting all this from the novels? I'd always assumed the sets happen in chronological order, more or less. – ripper234 Nov 2 at 21:40
no, i get it all from the official FREE online planeswalker comics wizards.com/magic/Multiverse/… – rif-raf Nov 2 at 22:41

The post Time Spiral blocks seem to evolve like this.

  1. Shards
  2. Lorwyn/Shadowmoor
  3. Zendikar

Shards has the 'younger' Ajani Vengeant, putting it behind Lorwyn in the timeline, barring time-tricks. Shadowmoor has the Chandra before The Purifying Fire, which results in Chandra Ablaze in Zendikar.

hmm, this sounds all interesting. I always thought that these actions were somewhat parallel with timespiral; the cracks in the multiverse causing the great aurora (Lorwyn/Shadowmoor), keeping the spirits in Ravnica and making the taking of That Which Was Taken possible (Kamigawa)

well, i'm not up to date with the comics and novels after Shadowmoor, so feel free to correct me. It feels a bit cheap to relate all these events into the same context, but i think i remember reading something like that at wizards'

no, I think your'e right, I think we were told that they all happened because of time spiral, which is even werider because Kamigawa happens before most other magic sets to my understanding. Umezawa was in legends. – rif-raf Nov 16 at 23:18
it's a little unclear to me. it seemed that toshiro was the ancestor of a clan on Dominaria that also messed with Bolas, but when Timespiral happens, the two Sisters (Michiko Konda and Kyodai) are still there watching over Kamigawa, which points to a smaller timeframe... – Silly Freak Nov 17 at 9:44
