I love spoilers but I also love guessing. We are still very far from knowing what kind of cards will appear in worldwake, what kind of mechanics and what will they revolve around and what will happen in the zendikar plot.

Still I wanna post what we do know so we could start guessing.

-This is the final set for the land block in terms of drafting, drafts will go ZZW.

-Mark Rosewater said kicker will appear in Worldwake but will contain a new twist.

-The set after Worldwake will be Rise of the Al-Drazi and will be drafted with only one set, it will still occur on zendikar

-Recent webcomics have shown that Satkhan Vol is on Zendikar and is crazy. Also Jace was hired to keep whatever Chandra is looking for a secret so he plans to go to Zendikar to stop her. So far blocks containing planewalkers had 5 of them, so we will probably see at least one planeswalker in Worldwake or possibly in Rise of the Al-Drazi.

-The Al-Drazi built the Hedrons and most of the advanced ruins in Zendikar, the set is called worldwake so they will probably all become active chaning the world of zendikar fundemently in some fashion.

Thats all I got for now, guess away!

Worldwake, flavor wise, looks like it involves the Hedrons awakening. It is possibly the fist step towards awakening the Eldrazi, since the symbol for Rise of the Eldrazi is an open Hedron. The Eye of Ugon might also play a role in the set since Chandra is looking for it and Jace is trying to stop her from finding it. Also Ugon was a spirit dragon* that may or may not have helped seal the Eldrazi, and is possibly from Kamigawa(*From the flavor text of Ghost Flame). The allies in Worldwake may be better because of the possible increase of instability of Zendikar as it awakens, which in turn, makes them more survivalists than adventures and pushes them to fight in even more tight knit groups than before. Also man lands could play an important role in the set. Not sure about the new kicker yet, as it seems to still be shrouded in mystery. We've had kicker with a mana cost and some without a mana cost and instead had another cost like life or sacrificing a land, creature, or other kind of permanent. Maybe the land will produce more traps instead of most of them being man-made by other adventures. That's my thoughts on Worldwake.

Haven't seen any signs of Hedrons awakening. There are a lot of nice man-lands and zendikons though. – ripper234 Feb 12 at 11:57

I never delved deep into the rumor mill, but I interpret "Worldwake" as the world awakening, i.e. the lands coming to life -- lands that are creatures and/or more spell-lands. I'm not sure dying lands will be such an important theme; maybe sacrificing lands to create a token or an alternate effect (which is more like transforming than destroying), but not plain-old "destroy two lands".

Yeah, i guess that's more probable. There are a lot less man lands now that 10th edition is gone, and so far no land in zandikar had such an effect. – rif-raf Nov 2 at 10:14
Interesting ... I never thought about that meaning to 'wake' in this context. – ripper234 Nov 2 at 12:08

More Allies! Wizards had Ally week last week, and they tried to build a deck, came to some decklist, and then they said something like: It will be easier to build ally decks when Worldwake is out. Every colour has around 3 ally cards now, which is a bit measly.

I'm hoping for an Ally with flash, that would be very nice for the format, it gives decks with allies a lot more ways to react to instants etc.:

Yes, The Evangel should have had flash. – ripper234 Nov 5 at 12:46
allies? noooooooooooooo! I see them as uninteresting slivers... – rif-raf Nov 5 at 12:56

I found something else: The set Future Sight is all about cards that might come back in 'future' sets. Look at this card:

[[Dryad Arbor]]

Maybe we get one of those for each colour? They'd fit perfectly, being 'lands that have woke up' / Worldwaken.

Not sure this fits in every color, but this specific card has a good chance of returning in Worldwake. – ripper234 Nov 5 at 14:34
It could be, but i doubt it would be a cycle, it wouldn't have much room for variety, they can't all be 1/1's so at most you could get a 0/1 and maybe a 0/2. is there anything in future sight that looks like it comes from zendikar? or has zendikar like flavor? – rif-raf Nov 5 at 15:33
Nice catch! Definitely looks Zendikarish. I think we might have other land creatures with enter-the-battlefield costs and other abilities. I do think they might fit in each color. Think of a swamp that's also a Frozen Shade... makes sense to me. – Avish Nov 5 at 17:02

World**wake** - the world (lands?) is dying.

  • Kicker - sacrifice a land - I'm willing to bet on this. Come to think of it there are already two red cards in Zendikar that demand sacrificing a land, so I wonder.
  • Landfall - I think it will still be there, but perhaps combine with either saccing lands or triggering when your lands are destroyed.
  • Traps - I'm not sure we'll see more traps, so far I've activated a trap cost perhaps twice in a about 30-40 games.
  • We might see some cards that count number of lands in your graveyard (+ one or two that counts them in all graveyards).
  • A cheap black card that makes target player discard two lands. Two mana, perhaps?
  • Quests you need to pay for to activate?

We're still not in a position to guess about the next block, I think.

I also considered there might be a land in graveyard theme. It would make sense espesialy if rise of the al-drazi is a graveyard set. I dunno if they will keep both landfall and kicker. It makes sense for them to do this since there is so much left to do with those mechanics but they probably intend to introduce 2-3 new ones as well so there might not be room for everything. – rif-raf Nov 2 at 7:55

That two mana black card is not gonna happen :P People dont keep hands with 5 or more lands in them, so you'd put away half their start up lands for only two mana? Talk about broken. 3 mana is still too few, considering mana creatures like Elves, Birds, Cobra, etc. – Ancarma Nov 5 at 10:07

An interesting idea came from one of the kids in the after school magic class I teach was this: an ability that triggeres whenever a land you control leaves play. this is very interestin because in zendiker you have lands that are sacrificed, fetchlands, premenents returning to your hand and possibly more. this could be added on if for example you had bounce lands like ravnica's in Zendikar, which would work well with both landfall and this new ability, so who knows.

The unofficial previews have just started with Smother.

Perhaps this suggests a set that cares about converted mana cost? (Although this might just be a response to all the cheap aggro creatures in Zendikar).

Also from the translation of the French intro packs it seems that

a) Jace is there.

B) Kicker is goona probably have the twist of being able to pay it multiple times like replicate.

c) landfall is still around.

d) some creatures get boneses from certain land types, possibly a second colour than what they cost.

It would appear that mono colour is in for this set.

I have also heard of these two spells:

1U ~ instant - U counter target spell unless its controller pays 1 "multikick" U : counter target spell unless it's controller pays 2

1G ~ Sorcery - U Target creature gets +3/+3 "multikick" 1G : target creature gets +3/+3

there will be a lot of sacrificing. From the name worldWAKE i guess that there will be land sacrifices. From the punchline "a world enraged" I guess that there will be more fierce and powerful lands. With Rise of the Eldrazi coming up, I guess there will be a few Eldrazi cards in Worldwake. There are also rumors going about golden artifact cards, maybe these have something to do with the Eldrazi or the Hedrons seeing as these cards are artifacts. Eldrazi monument and Hedron scrabbler.

Even stronger mono-color than Zendikar!

4/5 creature for GGG!

well apperantly this is what worldwake will be about:

http://wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/73b

1) a new twist on kicker, which is multikicker (the ability to pay multiple time for the effect to happen multiple time).

2) a new twist on landfall... instants that have an added effect if a land came into play under your control this turn.

3) man lands! lands that turn into creatures till the end of turn, and enchantments that turn lands into creatures. if they die the land returns to your hand alowing for landfall!

4) more of the same! more vampires that get stronger when you opponent is at 10, more allies that work the same way as in Zendikar and more Kor that like to be equipted.I assume that means more equipments.

I think it would be really cool if there was a land that has landfall, kinda works like allies do doesn't it? or maybe landfall that makes it turn into a craute until end of turn.
