Is it ok to just post a new message in mtgsalvation with a link to Draw3Cards, magic-league, etc... ? I'm not a user of those forums, and I don't want to break forum rules.

Where should we post about this?

I already published once in the Magic Facebook group and my blog.

If I could offer a bounty, I would (a question has to be idle for two days before I can offer a bounty) – ripper234 Oct 25 at 11:39
What's a bounty? :o – Ancarma Oct 25 at 13:12
A bounty is a certain amount of reputation the asker is willing to donate to whoever posts the accepted answer. See the FAQ for more (under "What if I don't get a good answer?"). – Avish Oct 25 at 13:37
IRC is doing some work on this now, thanks Fritz for your support. – Shushoto 7 hours ago

The link on my blog is still up, although I haven't had many chances to post in the last month. You can ask any number of MTG websites for a link exchange, which will improve your standing on Google (I have exchanges with TrollandToad). You can publicize it in Google Wave. There aren't many public waves about Magic right now. If you don't have an account, I can send you an invite - email me anything and I'll send an invite to that email address. (calvinpom (at) gmail (dot) com) Tweet about the website, put it in your signature in MTGSalvation and the Wizards forums, and post in both. Create a Facebook group about it yourself. That will draw users from Facebook. In general, the more links to your website the better your ranking in Google and the other search engines.

EDIT: There already is a public wave about MTG websites. Draw 3 Cards is not currently on it, but I could add you myself if you want.

Thanks for the ideas - I've tried contacting a lot of bloggers already, got limited results. I'll contact TrollandToad. We have Facebook group, very little traction there though. I have Google Wave, but I failed to see how to search it. I think it will have limited effect, but still, if you can add a link there that would be great (I didn't find the group, not sure how to search Wave :) – ripper234 Dec 17 at 7:52
There is a search bar at the top of the list of active waves. You can search for with:public if you want to find public waves, and with:public [what you're searching for] to search for something in public waves. I'll add a link to this website to that wave for you now. – Calvin Dec 17 at 11:53
Hmm ... I couldn't find a link from TrollandToad to your site. Where are the affiliate links? – ripper234 Dec 18 at 8:36
I think setting a bounty on this quesiton was a mistake - it's an open-ended question. Nonetheless, once set I have to accept one of the answers, so there you go. – ripper234 Dec 23 at 9:17

I would suggest a mail to Wotc, maybe they will mention it in an article. Also MTGOtraders, scg and channelfireball.com. are sites with a lot of uses. A mail to the admins could get draw3cards a link from those sites if lucky.

I'll give it a try, thanks. – ripper234 Oct 25 at 14:49

Hello. I will post a link to your website on my blog, if you remind me in about a week. You emailed me, so if you've read that reply first than you already know this. I would like you to post a link to my blog somewhere on your website, also, please.

Unfortunately, this is pretty much a question of good SEO and time. Currently, forums such as MTGSalvation and the official WOTC boards have enough of a population that people can basically get questions answered the way they would here. In the current "market" of MTG sites, I'd expect slow growth from any new site. Getting inbound links from well-established existing sites and pundits is good, and building social-media traction is good. It's just that in the current market, already competitive, there's no room for explosive growth. So do the work to grow steadily.

I know. The alterior purpose of the question is to get users who happen to have Magic blogs or forums to help promote it :) I'm happy with how the site is growing and functioning with our modest user base - I really didn't expect to hit the top 10 stack exchange sites - stackexchangesites.com/questions – ripper234 Dec 18 at 19:07

RarityGuide.com has a pretty active magic forum: http://www.rarityguide.com/forums/magic-gathering-mtg/

You can try mentioning this there

I emailed the Monday Night Magic podcast (over at mtgcast.com) and asked them to have a look and mention the site on the show. Tom replied he would mention it next episode.

Maybe you could convince the DCI that draw3cards is a growing community that can benefit a great deal from having judges participate.

I already emailed wotc some time ago, I don't know how else to contact DCI. A nice idea is that we can have the judge's levels shown next to the profiles, so when you read an answer you know that you got it from an authoritative source. – ripper234 6 hours ago
