In the pre-release I attended, there were rumors that very few Zendikar boosters contain power nine or other out-of-print cards. Did anyone encounter such cards?

Haven't personally seen any of them, but there are definite confirmations of people finding them. Mtgosalvation has a list of confirmed cards found: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=186825

Just wanted to point out that the reason for putting in copies of older cards are mainly because of the reprint list. Lots of cards are on a list that says they cant be reprinted, this is for protecting their collectors value as a bunch of new lotuses would have lowered the prices on those allready in circulation. – Julain Oct 25 at 13:10

Yep, Wizards made a deal with Starcitygames.com. The cards aren't new prints, but are in fact old original printed cards from years ago that SCG still had lying around. They made a deal to redistribute those cards by putting them in Zendikar boosters. Personally, I think this way is better than reprinting all those old cards, which would create a lot of confusion. You'd have boostermint Black Loti? That's gonna cost a lot. On the other hand though, now you could find a card in a booster that someone has had in his cardcollection for years. That's kinda weird too, don't you think?

Yeap, my brother opened an unlimited Ancestral Recall, it was in a two-headed tournement though so they sold it and split the profits.

Were you allowed to play with it in the tournament? – ripper234 Oct 27 at 9:11
Were you allowed to play with the prerelease foil mythic rare you got at the pre-release? Same answer. – Avish Oct 27 at 9:16
true, you can't play with them. BTW it was very nice of whoever did it, to add the pic for the card. – rif-raf Oct 27 at 23:01

This has been 100% confirmed, the first confirmation was from an email sent to the DCI Judges list prior to the Zendikar pre-release: http://www.mananation.com/judges-list-confirms-zendikar-treasure/
