This was born for NDE! – ripper234 Apr 1 at 21:12
I think this doesn't work. You don't get priority before the beginning of the upkeep. Because the condition is not met at that point in time, it does not trigger and thus cannot be reacted upon... – MagicSearch Apr 5 at 15:10

Why not? You have to do it before your turn, of course. Say you're about to die from your opponent's attack; you save yourself with [[[Angel's Grace]]] and then when your next turn starts you win with [[[Near Death Experience]]]. – Avish Apr 5 at 16:10

Anything that allows you to pay an arbitrary amount of life will do. For example:

[[Blood Celebrant]] [[Ethereal Champion]] [[Kuro, Pitlord]] [[Mischievous Poltergeist]] [[Yawgmoth's Bargain]] [[Wall of Blood]]

Too bad nothing here is in standard, I think. – ripper234 Apr 1 at 10:03
Also, it's called [[[Burst Lightning]]] – Shushoto Apr 1 at 11:44
How is Burst Lightning relevant here? – Avish Apr 5 at 16:10
It's that intentionally demolishing your life total is asking for a loss 90+% of the time. I like solutions that preserve your last drop of vitality, such as [[[Worship]]] much better. – Shushoto Apr 5 at 18:28
Worship is awesome, why didn't you post it as an answer? – Avish Apr 5 at 20:24
