If I clone a [[[howlgeist]]] then block it with the clone, can I have the clone come back into the battlefield (because of undying) as a new copy of my opponent's returned howlgeist, and if so will my clone get a +1/+1 counter put on it?

When combat damage resolves, both creatures die at the same time. Undying from your [[[Clone]]] will trigger, since it was a [[[Howlgeist]]] when it died.

Since both creatures died at the same time, undying is triggered at the same time for both of them. When there are multiple abilities going to the stack at the same time, they are put in APNAP (Active Player - Not Active Player) order, so the ability from your opponent's Howlgeist will go to the stack first, and your Clone's undying will be on top of it.

Since the stack resolves in LIFO (Last In First Out) order, your clone will return to the battlefield (with a +1/+1 counter) before Howlgeist, so you can't copy it again. You can choose another creature to copy or not copy anything and Clone will be a 1/1 creature due to the +1/+1 counter.
